Stone Skull
Stone Skull

This large stone caught my attention.   It looks like a giant skull to me.  It is situated near a steep and winding road.  This road has no guard rail.  It is a two lane road.   Everytime I traveled this road I was riding the brakes.  I would pull over to let other drivers pass.  I was shocked how fast they would drive.  I mean there was a 250 ft drop just a few feet from the pavement.  One day I pulled off to take a picture of the wildflower covered hills.  This giant stone said..."Psst... those flowers come and go...I have been here a long time.  I remember the Garden."

This tree grows on the banks of a lake.  The water level had receded.  Exposing it's tangle of roots.  The roots hardened to protect the tree.  This tree was determined to live.  It made me think of people that are survivors, and growing where we are planted.

Sitting in it's shade,  I was mesmerized by this tree.  Thinking of above and below.  Does the garden exist in what is growing above the ground?  Does the garden exist in what is growing below the ground?   Is the garden in the seen or unseen?  I say the garden exists when we realize it.

Determination

I think of the beauty in nature as being 'Remnants of the Garden'.  Natures beauty asks only to be looked upon.  The artists that try to create beauty, honor  the high ideals within us.  'Remnants of the Garden' is an idea I had for a book.  'Realize the Garden' is an idea I have for a short film.    I think it is better shared in this format ( for now ).  Look for 'Remnants of the Garden' where you live and travel.

This Gourd Rattle was made by
Billy Meza.  Given to my son as a gift.
The Gourd Rattle is part of the tradition of
California Indians to sing Bird Songs,
The songs and rattles are beautiful to hear.

I have been saddened by the stresses of today's living.
Until I remember having walked by shimmering waters and whispering pines. I have watched the Beaver at work and play.
I remember my Grandfather teaching me of the healing power that lives in every Leaf and blade of grass and every Animal that walks this earth. Undaunted by injury great and small, the healing process prevails from ignition at birth.
This process is as old as the waters that lap among the rocks.
My soul and spirit gladdens in the knowledge that what once was two tiny cells has grown to perceive the beauty in milleniums of growth.
No smaller but joyous man am I.
